NICOLE HAZEN - MHSAA PAYWORKS COACH OF THE MONTH

Nicole has been the boys hockey team manager for almost a decade at Sturgeon Heights Collegiate. Her selfless devotion to helping take care of logistics off the ice and supporting the players in their studies has been invaluable to the program.
She helped organize/run another successful Husky Classic Hockey Tournament this year at the Bell MTS Iceplex with teams from all over Manitoba participating. She has also helped guide the Huskies to a very strong start to the regular season in the Platinum Promotions Division.

Sturgeon Heights Boys Repeat!

The Sturgeon Heights Boys Hockey team had a fantastic weekend in Brandon.

The boys defended their crown and beat St. Paul’s 4-1 in the Brandon tournament this weekend to repeat as Vic Inn champions. This is particularly impressive as this is the biggest tournament in our province having 24 of the top teams from all over Manitoba and Ontario.

Big congrats to Cayden Onagi awarded player of the game in the finals and another very big congrats to Ryan Ostermann for being named tournament MVP!

On Saturday, February 24 JJ Ross Ryan Vermette Jeff Spiers Jody O’Brien and Rob Bell represented the St. James Assiniboia Teachers Association and the St. James Assiniboia school division in the annual Chris McCubbins Get Off Your Butt and Ski Challenge. The proceeds from this fundraiser fund the ski at school program of which Brooklands school takes part on behalf of the St. James Assiniboia school division. Although a fundraiser the St. James Assiniboia teachers did the association proud and came home with the silver medal.
